DOOM

11.14.2005

As far as video game movies go, it was good. As a fan of the Doom games, it was meh. It didn't live up to its potential at all. The major things that bugged the crap outta me were:

  1. They came up with a great idea to explain how they would use the first person view, but who ever edited the movie must have forgotten about it and didn't use it throughout the movie at all. Instead, they took every first person scene and put a 5 minute crap-a-thon scene at the end where you didn't really know what the hell was going on.
  2. While they had the BFG, no one got hit with it. I wanted to see gut piles, but instead all I saw was a couple of walls get melted...very lame, and poor choice.
I could live with the change of plot aspect, and I liked the fact that the Rock played a bad guy...but The Rock is the king of the "MEH" movie, and this is no exception. It's worth a glance, but it's up to you if you want to deface your movie collection with such mediocrity.

Meh...

If you have to check this out at all, rent it. Don't waste your money buying it.
