LOST: Season One DVD Box Set

All I gotta say is "addictive". I was very wary of this show because I caught an
episode here or there, but it wasn't enough to hold my interest. But all I kept
hearing for 4 weeks was how amazing this show was from everybody who watches it,
even Attack of the Show. That's all they talked about.
I found out that Hollywood Video rented out the box set of the Season One DVDs,
so I was like "Well there's shit for movies coming out. I'll check out the first
disc" and it all started there. From that disc spawned a 3 week long marathon, ups
and downs, roller coaster ride. The first episode was awesome, but once you get
to the 4th you're like "I gotta watch the next disc 'cause this is so freakin' amazing".
The first season is a 23 hour long movie basically, and not one that you can just
hop in the middle of and start watching. It doesn't work its magic as well if you
do that, and you have no idea what's going on. So, don't think you're all savvy
and start watching the new season, thinking you're cool. You have to watch the first
season. It's a must, no if's, and's, or but's. This is a must own for anyone who
loves DVD collections. But, be ready for a commitment once you finish the first
disc. I say go out and buy it now. You'll thank me later.
...What are you still doing there? I said get goin', bitch.

Wow...
Tree kept bugging me to go out and see Lost after he started renting the discs of
the DVD set one by one. Every time he'd finish a disc, he'd call me up and just
say "Oh my GOD!" and talk about how great the show is without giving me any spoilers
about it. Well, I didn't actually get around to seeing it at all until after I had
moved out here to Utah. I didn't have hardly anything here to keep myself entertained
(my game systems were in the process of being shipped to myself) so I took a walk
through BestBuy planning on picking up a movie or two to use with my laptop's DVD
drive. I happened to come across the DVD box set section, and saw Lost there for
$50. After I thought about it a little, I decided that I could get 2 movies or the
box set for the same price, and that Lost was essentially a 24 hour movie instead
of just two 2 hour long movies...Even though I hadn't seen any of it, I figured
that if Aaron was ranting about how great it was that it must be at least somewhat
decent, so I took the risk and bought it, and I was VERY pleased with the results.
If for some reason you've been living under a rock for the past year or so and have
never heard of the show, the basic plot is that a plane crashes on its way from
Australia to the United States, and 40 survivors of the crash find themselves on
this island in the middle of nowhere and have to adjust to living there while trying
to be rescued. But they soon find that there's a lot more to this island than meets
the eye, and the whole first season is littered with REALLY freaky stuff happening
all throughout the episodes.
The acting is incredible, the characters are all memorable and likable (even Sawyer,
who tries to make people hate him), and the story telling and writing are just incredible.
I love the little bits of humor thrown in there from time to time, too. Like in
one of the last episodes of the season, Arzt (a minor character) was talking to
Hurley about how there are other people on the island, and not just the "clique"
that had formed. Basically, it was poking fun at the fact that you only really see
or learn anything about a dozen or so of the 40 survivors. The only thing that I
didn't like was the way that the evil writers ended the season. I understand the
need for cliffhangers and stuff, but...That was just mean!
But, if you haven't seen Lost yet...Go out and buy the Season 1 Boxset. It's VERY
worth it.
