V for Vendetta

What can I say about this movie that expresses the amazing awesome-ness of it? This, people, is a movie that can't be missed. It is definitly one of the best movies I've seen in quite a while.

Here's the low down on the plot. The goverment has taken over England and has squashed civil liberties, done away with homosexuals and all other kinds of people that were undesirable. They just took 'em right out of their homes and off the streets and locked 'em away. Then a certain person code named V comes along to shake things up and fight back against the oppressive government by making a stand toward certain symbols of the newly infected culture and making an outcry to all the people to stand with him, and not to be afraid of what the government will do. You follow the story as the plot thickens to find out little tid bits of why V is doing what he's doing and his past, and also figure out how the country of England got into such a military state.

This movie is no ordinary "action flick". For one, there isn't really that much action...2 scenes--maybe 3 if I counted right--in a 2 and a half hour movie. It's a movie that will ulitmately stand the test of time, as it was written 20 years ago in comic book form, but it reflects where our culture is headed right now. It gets back to the Wachowski brothers roots: a movie that's plot based and intriguing, not just mumbo jumbo special effects. It's definitly a movie that makes you leave the theater with new ideas and forces you to think rather than just show you pretty pictures, and that's always the best type of movie.

Great!

It's a buy when it comes out on DVD, but until then...go watch it on the big screen. It's worth it.
