The Ex

05.22.2007

Normally, I like Zach Braffs movies because they have a witty intelligence to them, but this movie was tremendously awful. Zach's character moves to california because he cant hold down a steady job. So he takes an advertising gig with his father in law. Also working at this new place is Amanda Pete's old friend, whats his face. who is in a wheel chair. Progressively through out the movie the friend sabotages Zach, while trying to steal his wife away. Comedy tries to ensue, but sucks hardcore. This movie doesn't know what it wants to be, it tries to take from meet the parents, and from the title is suppost to focus on the EX, but its more about Zach's character holding down a steady job, and dealing with his wife. The writing for each of these characters was the worst. No one had a solid character to them and good character cameos from people from SNL ended up being in the movie for a duration of 2 minutes, only to disappear and never be heard from again. One particular scene, Zach is frustrated with his job and trys to tell his wife , he does so in a higher than normal voice then sits down. Amanda Pete then storms upstairs saying "Im going to my parents house, call me when you calm down."
