Superman Returns

God I hate Superman, not only because he's just a character that has no real depth
to him; just a bunch of cool super powers with almost no equal, but also because
Superman stole the glue that was holding the X-men series together. That is Bryan
Singer; a writer/director who feels it’s good to keep your movies based more in
reality and is more focused on the inner struggles of the characters rather than
all about action. That formula worked well with X-men, he seemed to do wonders with
the broad scope of characters that movie had with the twists and turns of the comic
books but put his own feel to it... Unfortunately, the same can not be said about
Superman. This movie is a whopping 2 hours and 45 minutes and I can honestly say
that there wasn’t one moment where I was like "Wow... that was amazing". To sum
it up, the plot is so thick with character relationship it leaves much to be desired
as far as all out action goes. Don’t get me wrong. A large portion of this movie
is "Let’s see what cool stuff Superman can do", but when it comes down to the real
guts of confrontation, it only lasted about 10 minutes.
Another thing that made me annoyed is the Kryptonite aspect. In the comics, old
movies, and series, Superman can’t even come 10 feet toward Kryptonite without keeling
over in pain. But this movie he flies right up to an entire land mass made of Kryptonite
and all it does is make his power go away and he sweats. He even gets stabbed with
a Krypto-shive and is able to lift a gigantic land mass into space...in-freakin-possible.
(Spoiler) and the kid aspect of this movie made no sense due to the fact that if
you've ever seen Mall Rats, if Superman ever blew his load in Lois Lane it would
shoot a hole right through her skull, and that the only woman strong enough to take
his seed is Wonder Woman.
It wasn’t a bad movie by any stretch but it wasn’t that great. Just an ok.

If you must see this, see it in an IMAX 3d. That might make the movie more enjoyable
because what this movie lacks in action you'll be going... "LOOK AT THE SPACE BETWEEN
THE FENCE AND THE HOUSE, THAT’S AMAZING"
